The
life of OpenWindo Cards is an old story. It starts with inspiration
sparked by a picture created by a friend of mine. It was a playful
endeavor – still is – which phoenixed several times
over a period of twelve years. The idea of a set of cards evolved
not only from my immersion into the mysteries of Tarot, but the
clear and indisputable messages that came through as the pictures
took form.
Going
back to school and entering into the field of graphic design, I
believed my real parachute had finally opened. It seemed to satisfy
a lifelong hunger for creativity in the work I did for a living.
When my husband, Sam, accepted a job in Kailua, Oahu and I followed
him to the Islands where we lived for a year. I'd had every intention
of continuing my studies and career, but there was something about
the island that made it all seem so far away, like a helium balloon
that got away.
From
that year of art, new friendships, geckos and white ginger, something
in me and outside of me shifted – perhaps a window opened
and shed a new light. Upon
my return to the mainland, I knew what I needed to do – The
cards and all of their power needed to be produced and then released
through the OpenWindo to work their magic in the world.
With
deep gratitude for Sam's support and a giant leap of faith, I would
like to present OpenWindo Cards and OpenWindo Gallery
I
dedicate these OpenWindo Cards to the memory of both my mother,
Theresa, whose creative spirit inspires me to this day, and my little
brother, Wes, who is teaching me still, about love and acceptance.
May we all fly together again one day.
